Planning an Extended Stay in Birmingham: What to Pack and Know

Modern fully equipped furnished apartment kitchen

Whether you’re relocating for work, on a longer contract, or house hunting before a permanent move, staying somewhere for weeks rather than nights changes how you should plan. Here’s what we tell guests booking an extended stay with us in Birmingham.

Pack for living, not travelling. A hotel stay means living out of a suitcase. A longer stay in one of our homes means you actually have wardrobe space, a kitchen to stock, and room to unpack properly. Bring what you’d normally have at home — you’ll have somewhere to put it.

Sort your groceries early. Every property has a fully equipped kitchen, and we provide enough paper products and toiletries to get you through arrival and your first shop. After that, a proper supermarket run on day one will save you money and hassle compared to relying on takeaways for a multi-week stay.

Think about area before length. If you’re relocating for Jaguar Land Rover, the NEC, or an HS2 project, choosing a property close to your workplace matters more the longer you’re staying — the daily commute adds up over weeks in a way it doesn’t over a single weekend. Tell us where you’re working and we can suggest the right part of Birmingham.

Ask about the whole period upfront. For stays of a few nights to a few months, we quote for the full period rather than a nightly platform rate — tell us your dates and headcount and we’ll come back with options. It’s often more straightforward, and more cost-effective, than booking week by week.

Keep a direct line open. Because Danny and Callum run the portfolio themselves, anything that comes up during a longer stay — a maintenance issue, a question about extending, a change in your plans — gets handled by someone who can actually make a decision, not a call centre.

Plan your transport. With New Street, Snow Hill and Moor Street stations plus a compact centre, most guests find they don’t need a car for day-to-day life in Birmingham, even over an extended stay.

If you’re planning a relocation or an extended stay, get in touch with your dates and requirements and we’ll help you find the right home for the whole period. Check availability or browse our properties to see what’s on offer.
