Birmingham sits at the centre of the UK’s transport network, which makes getting here straightforward whichever direction you’re coming from. Here’s what to know before you travel.
By air. Birmingham Airport (BHX) handles flights from across Europe and beyond, and it’s a genuinely short journey into the city — around ten minutes by train from Birmingham International to New Street. If your stay is built around an early flight or a late arrival, our properties near Sheldon, including Runway House, Skyward House and Emirates House, are just minutes from the terminal.
By rail. New Street Station sits directly beneath the Bullring and Grand Central, making it about as central as a station can be. Birmingham also has excellent direct connections from London, Manchester, Bristol and beyond, and HS2’s eventual arrival will only strengthen that further. Snow Hill and Moor Street are the other two main stations, both useful if you’re staying near the Jewellery Quarter or Southside.
By road. The M6, M5, M40 and M42 all converge around Birmingham, which is exactly why so many logistics and business operations are based here. If you’re driving in, check with us about parking before you book — availability varies by property, and it’s easier to sort in advance than on arrival.
Getting around once you’re here. The city centre is compact enough to walk between the Bullring, Brindleyplace and the Jewellery Quarter. For anything further out, Birmingham’s tram and bus network covers most of the city, and taxis are easy to find outside peak times.
Picking the right base. With properties spread from the city centre to the airport, the right choice depends on why you’re here. City centre for tourism and events at the ICC or Utilita Arena. Sheldon for early flights, the NEC, or Jaguar Land Rover. Southside for Birmingham Children’s Hospital or a quieter base with quick transport links via Snow Hill.
