Cadbury World sits in Bournville, the model village Cadbury built for its workers over a century ago, and it’s one of the most popular family days out in the whole of the West Midlands. The experience walks you through the history of chocolate and the Cadbury family itself, with production areas, tasting stops, and enough interactive exhibits to hold younger visitors’ attention for a full visit.
It’s a genuinely different pace to the city centre — Bournville itself is worth a slow wander afterwards, with its village green, almshouses and garden-city layout largely unchanged since it was built for factory workers in the 1800s.
A few practical notes: Cadbury World gets busy, especially during school holidays, and tickets are timed — book online in advance rather than turning up on the day. It’s about a 20-minute drive or a train to Bournville station from the city centre, so it works best as a half-day trip rather than a quick stop.
Good for families staying with us for a few nights who want a full day out that isn’t in the centre — pair it with a walk around Bournville village before heading back.
