Birmingham in winter has a different character to the rest of the year — and if you time a stay around it, it’s one of the better reasons to visit.
The Frankfurt Christmas Market. Running through November and December, it’s the largest authentic German Christmas market outside Germany or Austria, filling Victoria Square and New Street with stalls, mulled wine and food you won’t find the rest of the year. It draws crowds from across the country, so if you’re planning to visit, book your dates early.
Ice skating and lights. Centenary Square and the surrounding streets are strung with lights from late November, and there’s usually an outdoor ice rink somewhere in the mix. It’s a good excuse for an evening walk between the canals and the centre.
Warm, well-equipped homes. Birmingham winters are grey and often wet rather than dramatically cold, which makes a comfortable base more valuable than a big coat. Every one of our properties has proper heating and a real living space to come back to — not just a hotel room to sit in.
Shorter days, easier planning. With the market, museums and restaurants all within a compact area, winter is actually a straightforward time to explore Birmingham on foot. You lose some daylight, but you gain the lights.
Business travel doesn’t slow down. If you’re here for work over the winter months — HS2, the NEC, Jaguar Land Rover, or a conference at the ICC — our properties near the airport and business parks in Sheldon put you close to it all without the seasonal price hikes you’ll see on hotel and platform sites.
Whether you’re coming for the Christmas market or simply need a base for the season, our homes across Birmingham and Solihull are available with no platform booking fees added at checkout — the price you see is the price you pay.
